We exhibited at the AMEU Technical Convention

BEKA Schréder showcased some of their latest LED lighting products at the 25th AMEU (Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities) Technical Convention, which took place from 4 to 7 October 2015 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

BEKA Schréder transformed its stand into a road and urban landscape where a range of functional and decorative LED streetlights, and their high-power LED floodlight, could be demonstrated. The pre-launch of the innovative and ground breaking Shuffle made quite an impact. Many people visited our stand to find out more about this exciting new modular lighting solution that goes well beyond providing a traditional lighting solution.

The following products were displayed:

  • Shuffle, a smart and interactive lighting solution
  • ZELA, a decorative LED post top
  • YOA, an energy-efficient urban LED street light
  • BEKA LEDlume family, a high-performance LED street light range
  • OMNIstar, a high-performance LED floodlight range

Visitors were engaged in an environment where the LED lighting illustrated how they could enhance their landscapes in terms of safety and well-being while providing sustainable solutions with energy savings. 700 delegates attended the Congress.

Daniel Kasper, BEKA Schréder’s Product Development Manager, presented a paper “Visual improvement and high energy savings of high mast lighting installations in municipal environments”, which was well received.

The City of Johannesburg in conjunction with City Power hosted this Convention of the AMEU, of which most South African municipalities are members.

The Congress coincided with the start of the Eco Mobility World Festival, hosted by the City of Johannesburg, and is a month of awareness in which certain streets in Sandton CBD are closed off during certain times to private vehicles. The main purpose of this closure is to encourage citizens and visitors to be ecomobile – in other words to use public transport, walk or cycle wherever they need to go.
