Students form Thohoyandou Technical College

BEKA Schréder Welcomes Students from Thohoyandou Technical College

On the 28th of July 2017, Thohoyandou Technical College made a factory visit at BEKA Schréder’s Head Office.

BEKA Schréder recently hosted students from Thohoyandou Technical College. They were given a brief introduction of the company before being taken on a factory tour. They were very fascinated with our state-of-the-art research and development facilities.

A majority of learners are not offered professional career guidance. Visits like these are one of the ways in which they are assisted to choose what courses they wish to pursue in future. Generally, most students do not get a chance to know the different options available for them based on their aptitude and interests. More importantly, they are not familiar with the actual day-to-day work of careers they wish to pursue. Due to this, the teachers of the Thohoyandou Technical College started organising factory visits, and BEKA Schréder was a part of their journey.

The students were taken to various areas of the factory where they learnt about the basics of lighting, how luminaires are manufactured, as well as the latest lighting technologies used in the company. This interactive session allowed the students to familiarize themselves with lighting and have all their questions answered.

The teachers appreciated the arrangements the company made and the students were excited about the knowledge they acquired.

BEKA Schréder welcomes institutions in the engineering fields to arrange such visits for students. For further enquiries, contact Sibusiso Skosana at 011 238 0069 or s.skosana@beka-schreder.co.za.
